Dates: August 31 to September 11, 2009
Instructor: Jay Blums
Location: Via Fiesolana 34/r, Florence
Painting from the plaster cast is a wonderful arena in which to study modeling of form, one of the most important elements to achieving a lifelike illusion of three dimensions.
In this intensive two-week workshop students will create a fully rendered painting of a plaster cast in oil. The methodology of Angel Academy (which, at it's root, we use for everything from graphite to oil painting in full colour) will be introduced and put into practice. From these fundamental principles, others specific to oil painting will be taught: the purpose and application of the various stages of a painting; knowledge of pigments; organization of one's palette; and the use of mediums, to name just a few.

Apart from working time and daily individual instruction, demonstrations will be given throughout the workshop to help illustrate many of the concepts and techniques.

Jay Blums is a full-time instructor with the Angel Academy of Art and a short bio of him can be found in The Faculty section of the Angel Academy of Art website.
Early reservations are recommended, as student numbers are purposely limited to allow for a high degree of individual attention.
The cost of some of the materials are included in the fee. Other materials, however, are to be supplied by the student. A materials list will be provided upon registration.
