A firm grounding in the technical and material aspects is considered
essential. The difference between various pencils, charcoals, paints,
papers and canvas is studied, together with the preparation of glues
and plasters for canvas and panel. The diverse requirements and
specific mediums for the various layers of an oil painting are
taught, and underpainting, overpainting, and the masters' glazing
techniques are covered.

Anatomy and Morphology

|
Knowledge of the structure and form of the human body has been considered imperative for the figure painter since Leonardo and Michelangelo studied them during the Renaissance. In a series of slide lectures and work from the live model, these disciplines are thoroughly learned by the students at the Angel Academy. |

Perspective
|
|
|
|
|
One of the great innovations in representational
painting, discovered during the Florentine
Renaissance, perspective trains and strengthens the
mind, while it develops the artist's ability to think in three
dimensions on a two-dimensional surface. Using a
measuring-point system, the perspective courses at the
Angel Academy of Art cover One- and Two-Point
Perspective, Inclined Perspective, the Perspective of
Reflections and the Perspective of Shadows.
