The 11th annual show of the work done at the Angel Academy of Art, Florence, took place at the academy’s Via San Niccolò studio from the 14th of May to the 17th.

 

 

It was a great success; over 400 people were there, including such famous painters as Antonio Cicconi, Daniel Graves, Richard Serrin and Charles Cecil.

 

 

Following the champagne viewing at the show’s opening, we were entertained by a display of flag throwing. Martinho Correia, one of the four main instructors at the Angel Academy and the winner of one of the main still-life prizes this year at the international ARC, has been a member of the Flag Throwers of Florence (www.bandieraidegliuffizi.it) for many years and organized this great display in medieval costume. Martinho will be teaching two painting workshops at the Angel Academy this summer.

Back inside, after the flag-throwing display, Caitlin Andrews, a beautiful and extremely gifted opera singer who is resident in Florence, sang a selection of arias.
